For scaffolding in learning we created a blog where students can upload their videos and music. It is a way for teachers to know more about our students and to increase interpersonal skills.
We have chosen Rolling in the Deep from this blog.
Three languages to develop communicative skills: music,
visual arts and English.
LISTENING: Students listen to the song Rolling in the Deep and
they try to fill in the gaps with LYRICS TRAINNING web online.
Then we listen again to understand the complete meaning of the song.
For scaffolding in listening we select different levels in lyrics training:
beginner, intermediate, advanced…
READING: Students read the lyrics slowly and they try to understand the meaning of every word. They must 'read' the images as well to try to understand the general meaning of the song.
SPEAKING: Brainstorm about the meaning of the song. The teacher asks questions about the images of the video and the lyrics.
WRITING (HANDS ON): Students create images and in small groups make an audiovisual activity on computers.
Before doing this task they have to create a story board and compose the music.
The common topic for music and arts is: Relationship between equals. This topic is related to PLAN PROXECTA suggested by the Xunta to work on projects through different subjects.
We want our students to engage in debates about emotions and relationships.
We want our students to think criticaly about the music and images they see and hear.
